Meadow Oaks Montessori

Meadow Oaks Montessori provides a rich learning environment for children from infancy through age 6. In early childhood, children are experiencing rapid growth in cognitive, social and emotional development. Our thoughtfully designed programs are rooted in Montessori tradition, inviting children into a prepared environment that supports the learning process from sensory exploration through mastery of academic concepts in math, science, and literacy.

NIDO

Toddlers

From 3 months to around 1 year, or when the child begins walking, young infants are gently supported in the nido or nest. In the Nido environment, babies receive responsive, nurturing care from consistent caregivers who recognize the importance of trust and attachment in early childhood development.

In the Nest

  • Cushioned mats
  • Low furnishings
  • Mirrored wall with a secure hand rail
  • Walking bridge

Our Montessori guides carefully observe each baby and encourage gross motor movement during active time spent singing, painting, or during circle time as a group.

An Environment Designed for Infants

Flexible Routines

Intentional Free Play

We make space for self-initiated play, an essential aspect of early childhood development that allows children to engage in activities of their own choosing. Having the freedom to self-direct play allows children to explore their own interests, develop social skills, and cultivate creativity. During this time, our guides are close by, carefully ensuring safety without directing the process. You may be surprised how much these little ones are capable of at their early ages! They quickly learn how to show courtesy for each other and the environment from guides who model skills, language and social behavior.

Parents who value structure will appreciate that the Nido classroom environment offers predictable daily patterns in timing of group activity, outdoor strolls, meals, sleep, and play. We know your little ones are top of mind whether they’re in your care or ours, so we take time to provide updates to parents throughout the day using the secure Brightwheel app.

Nurturing a Sense of Wonder, Beginning in Infancy

Nido

From rolling, to crawling, to walking, infants are free to move. Home to soft spaces and opportunities for sensory exploration, infants in the Nido room become acquainted with the world and develop a sense of wonder in an environment that supports their growing independence.

The prepared environment for waddlers and toddlers aligns to their developmental stage with a focus on gross motor development.
Toddler rooms have inviting features like the toddler play gym so they can climb, crawl,  slide, and gain strength to master movement.

Waddlers & Toddlers

When children learn to walk, they advance to our Waddlers rooms.
Here, children from 12 to 18 months are exploring concepts, testing their abilities, making sense of their environment and gaining independence. Around 18 months, children advance to Toddlers classrooms with peer groups ages 18 months to 3 years.

Children are free to move throughout the classroom, following their natural inclinations and curiosity. Their ability to manipulate and interact with their environment grows. We see their confidence blossoms as they learn to care for themselves by serving snack, practicing hygiene, and caring for their environment.

Our Waddler & Toddler Classrooms

Building Competence in Social, Emotional, and Language skills

Waddlers and Toddlers build social, emotional and language skills as they interact with each other and their environment. When a child completes a puzzle, helps clean up a spill, or speaks a short sentence to communicate a need, we recognize the foundational skills that they have mastered to make this achievement possible.

The Role of Our Guides

Daily Life

Guides introduce new challenges through thoughtful play. Activities like sorting, spooning, matching and puzzles give children the opportunity to develop focus, visual discrimination, and build fine and gross motor skills.

This child-led approach respects differences in learning style and pace, and ensures each child is appropriately engaged and challenged.

Planting seeds for a life-long love of learning for children ages 3 to 6 years

primarY

Materials are introduced according to the child’s readiness, not their age or the calendar.

After observing each child, our Primary guides offer an individualized lesson. They introduce the materials and demonstrate the full cycle: retrieving the materials from a shelf, the proper sequence of actions to complete the task, then finally returning the activity to the shelf.

Mixed Age Classrooms

The mixed-age classroom allows older children to practice leadership, mentor younger peers, and recognize their own growth. Younger children are motivated to work towards mastery as they watch older children  engage with advanced materials.

A Sequential Order of Skills

The  Montessori materials in our Primary classrooms are designed to build on a sequential order of skills across
  • Early math
  • Literacy
  • Sensorial work
  • Practical life
  • Social and emotional learning

Through intentional design, classrooms create space for independent activity and quiet concentration. Executive function matures as children learn to plan their work, carry out mutli-step processes, and take responsibility in a calm, ordered space.

Inviting the child to learn builds interest and intrinsic motivation, forming a strong early learning foundation that will support them for years to come.

Child-led Learning & Individualized Lessons

sCHEDULE A tOUR

In the Montessori classroom, children learn with all of their senses. The prepared environment includes beautiful and concrete learning materials for hands-on exploration.

They are building concentration, practicing frustration tolerance, gaining confidence, and taking responsibility. The process, rather than the product, is always the focus.

While working with any given material, the child is learning more than the lesson itself.

Hands-on Materials and Purposeful Work

Children are invited to choose work, engage deeply, and return the materials when finished.

Enrichment Programs

Students at Meadow Oaks Montessori enjoy a variety of enrichment experiences that nurture creativity, communication, and physical development.

Toddlers and Primary students may also choose to participate in piano lessons with our music teacher, and optional dance and soccer programs through our partners, Tippi Toes Dance and Soccer Shots.
